Exploring Medical Careers

Students interested in a medical career can choose the Health Professions curriculum to explore medical careers such as a doctor, physical therapist, dentist, nurse, physician’s assistant, occupational therapist, speech therapist or pharmacist. The program allows students to explore careers before choosing a university. Students also learn beginning skills and basic procedures that form a foundation for a future in the medical field.
 
1. Medical Careers Exploration 
◦Investigate the wide array of possible careers to find a niche that fits your talents. 
◦Learn basic medical terminology and earn CPR and First Aid certification.
 
2. Medical Terminology
◦Earn college credit and a competitive advantage in the Medical Terminology course in partnership with Maryville University in St. Louis.
 
3. Real World Experience Practicum
◦Put your knowledge into action with a semester-long in-hospital experience.
Learn beginning skills and basic procedures that form a foundation for a future in the medical field.
